

Born on December 11, 1940 in Denver Colorado, He went to be with the lord on March 13, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Anita, son Roy ( Tami) Jackson, Grandchildren Roy L.T. Jackson, Randi ( Dustin )Jackson Rudolph, Mother in Law Gladys Wallace, Brother in Law Butch Wallace, Joe Wallace, and Ian Wallace. Brother Mike (Debbee) Jackson, Niece’s Angela and Andee, Nephews Doug and Michael. He was a caring Husband, Father, Grand Father, Brother and Uncle. He also leaves behind many great Friends.
Roy received a lung transplant in November of 2006, he truly appreciative of his new lease on life. The wonderful stories he loved to share with anyone, no one was ever a stranger to Roy
Roy attended St Catherine’s School and graduated from Holy Family. He was a Retired Union bricklayer holding a 50 year gold card. He retired in 1995.
Roy race from the years 1964 to 1980 at numerous tracks, the most popular being Lake Side Speedway and Englewood speedway, also numerous tracks in different states such as Arizona, Nevada, California, Kansas Illinois, Tennessee, Missouri, He raced with big names such as Dick Trickle, The Allison’s, Mark Martin, Rusty Wallace, and some of best known Colorado racer’s, The Wilson’s, Pachello’s, Opperman’s, Sauer’s, Stallworth, Larry Dechant, Pete Stringer and the Carelli’s. He held numerous track records, such as quick times, Track Champion. He raced figure 8’s, modified and late models. In late models he held many of track records at several tracks. He with all his many accomplishments in his racing lifetime he was also a very talented painter and long time bowler at Holiday lanes for over 15 years. It seems as if Roy touched it, it turned to gold in everything he did in his lifetime, and made sure he worked and achieved the goals he wanted. He also leaves behind a long time car family. He was a member of the The Cougars, Crankers Hot Rod Group, Colorado Cruisers; he was on the board of directors at CARC. Roy was also the kindest animal lover you would every meet. His favorite to do was get his coupe out on the weekends to enjoy numerous car shows (where he was quite often to best in show or top prize) and be with his friends and reminisce about the old times.
His wonderful pit crew was made up of great family and friends, such as Mike Jackson, Jerry Strouse, Ralph Royer, Butch Wallace, Son Roy Jackson, Joe Wallace, Dean Wallace, Arnold Wallace, Grandpa Roy Jackson, Gary Rhodes, Anita Jackson, John Simeone, Scott Strouse, and many other ones waiting on the other side for Roy. The head cheerleaders were Dorothy Jackson and Gladys Wallace. He was sponsored by Edgewater Inn and Better Bilt Transmission.
Roy also help to build several of the high rises in Denver that we drive by or work in everyday.
The last thing we can say about Roy Jackson is he was truly a Great Man.
