

Shawn Bennington, loving husband of Nicola Bennington, passed away peacefully in his sleep.
Born May 15, 1972 in Fairfield, California to Charlotte Hairgrove and Robert Bennington, Jr., Shawn lived in Magna, Utah for the majority of his life as the oldest of five boys, before moving to Colorado where he graduated from Thornton High School in 1990. He stayed in the northern Denver Metro, working as a machinist with New Tech Machinery, and raising his two boys, Jacob and Alec.
In 2014, Shawn met the love of his life, Nicola, and they were united in marriage in 2016. They spent their time together in Milliken before moving to Denver in 2025 with their dogs, Holly and Noel.
Shawn was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, participating in weekly worship services. Shawn was raised to the degree of a Master Mason of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Colorado in Mosaic Lodge #184 (Eastlake, Colorado) in October of 2003, a member in good standing for twenty-three years. Shawn was a charter member of Lumen Artis Lodge #199 (Windsor, Colorado) in October of 2018 and at his passing was an active member of Union Lodge #7 in Denver.
Shawn enjoyed reading, playing games with his friends, and spending time with his family. He will be sorely missed by all who loved him.
Shawn is survived by his wife Nicola Bennington; his sons Alec (Janel) and Jacob (Marissa); his mother Charlotte (Rick) Hollands; his brothers Robert III (Tracy) Bennington, Caleb (Julie) Bennington, Gabriel (Julia) Bennington, and Ricky Lynn Collins, Jr., as well as numerous aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert William Bennington, Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Joel Raymond Hairgrove and Jo Ada Eson; and his step-grandparents, Clyde and Darlene Hollands
