Stephen Patrick Feng

Stephen Patrick Feng was born on March 16th, 1978 to Christine Schilk and Dr. Chi Shun Feng in Yonkers, New York. He was the youngest of the 3 Feng children and took full advantage of being the baby and the only boy. His earliest years were spent briefly in New York then Louisiana until finally settling in Colorado around the age of 9.

His childhood was spent being doted on and bossed around by his 2 older sisters Angel and Gina. One Christmas he received a highly coveted GIJOE air craft carrier toy followed by a stuffed Ewok from Star Wars which began his life long hobby of collecting retro toys and relics.

He attended Goddard Middle School then Englewood Alternate High School where he met some of his close circle of friends, some of which remain to this day. During those years his 2 sisters moved to Hong Kong to live with their father and Stephen would visit often but decided it was his duty to stay behind in Colorado to look after their mother.

In adolescence he frequented arcades, comic book stores , landed a job at the infamous restaurant Frank the Pizza King and caused mischief up and down S. Broadway with his pals.

In adulthood he took some college courses, worked in the beer and alcohol wholesale industry, became an entrepreneur and even dabbled in the local semi pro poker circuit. He loved a good game of Texas Hold’ em and was pretty darn good at it. He shared 2 lovable Labs named Hunter and Chino with his sister Angel and looked forward to his father’s visits where they would enjoy good bourbon , play pool, compete at darts, philosophize about life and enjoy each other’s inappropriate jokes. They had a special bond.

In his mid twenties he became an uncle to his two nieces Amirah and Qairo who affectionately called him” Uncky Funcky “. Uncle Steve took his role seriously and would often take them to play mini golf, tennis, to the batting cages, bowling, the driving range and to the movies. He made appearances at their sporting events and even though he sometimes forgot their birthdays he always made it up to them on Christmas. He taught them to play poker when they were 4 and 6 and just over a decade later he taught both of them to drive, always making sure they circled and assessed the safety of the vehicle before each lesson. The 3 of them were peas in a pod.

In 2018 he welcomed his longtime girlfriend and best friend Casey into his life. Stephen was said to be a romantic at heart and seeing him with Casey confirmed it. He was smitten!

Stephen was a creative with a genuine intellectual curiosity. He knew a lot of things in a wide variety of subjects and was the type of guy you’d want on your trivial pursuits teams. He loved sports and blocked out the entire week of March Madness to celebrate with friends. He would organize annual Superbowl pools and fantasy football leagues. He enjoyed reading, some of his favorite authors being Hunter S. Thompson and David Sedaris. He loved music and would blast music ranging in genre from Bob Dylan to Lily Allen at excessive decibels. He was known to dance or maybe it was a boogie. Stephen had a brief artist phase where he painted acrylic robots on mixed materials and handed them out to friends.

Stephen was probably most known for his love of cinema. He could’ve put on a masterclass on indie films, big budget blockbusters and pop culture classics. He could talk about Wes Anderson and Christopher Nolan movies for hours.

In the summers he kept a garden of herbs and peppers and he loved to cook for his friends and family.

People describe Stephen as kind, generous, clever, funny, compassionate and as a loyal friend. His sisters nicknamed him the “gentle giant” because underneath the large stature there was a giant heart.

Stephen Patrick Feng (born in the year of the Earth Horse) died peacefully on July 17th, 2026 during the year of the Fire Horse with his 2 sisters by his side. He lived life on his terms and had very few regrets. He was loved.

Stephen was preceded in death by his father Chi Shun Feng, mother Christine Schilk and his 2 dogs Hunter and Chino.

He leaves behind his sisters Angel and Gina Feng, his nieces Amirah and Qairo Bentley, his life partner Casey Bjorklund and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
