Sue Anne (Frame) Sukstorf passed on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, in Denver, Colorado surrounded by her family. She was a loving and devoted matriarch to her family - mother to her two sons Jim (Jan) Bergamo and Scott (Debbie) Bergamo; her six grandchildren, Brett (Hannah) Bergamo, Andrew Bergamo, Leslie (Brian) Mikinski, Tyler (Michaella) Bergamo, Angela Bergamo, and Tanner Bergamo; sister-in-law to Coralie Frame; and aunt to her niece Michaele (Doug) McNelis and nephew Robert (Cindy) Frame.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Sue graduated from Dormont High School before moving to Colorado in 1957 to attend Colorado State University where she studied English. She later moved to Denver, attended the University of Denver, and became very active in Colorado politics and political causes. Sue served as the Assistant Chief Clerk to the Colorado House of Representatives until 1979, when she moved to Nebraska and eventually became the co-owner of a successful farming business.
Sue’s passion for her family and the birth of her grandchildren led her back to Colorado. There was rarely a time when the family was together that “Mimi” wasn’t teaching her grandkids how to play gin rummy (and beating them), watching the many plays and skits written, produced and performed by them in her basement, or slipping them some of her Pepsi (much to the chagrin of their parents).
Sue was an avid card player and was known to spend hours playing Bridge with friends, Hearts or Spades online, and every form of Solitaire ever invented. She loved to read and was passionate about education, learning, politics, and the intellectual, social, and emotional growth of her family and herself.
She is preceded in death by her father, Robert G. Frame, mother, Jeanne H. Frame, and brother Robert R. Frame. A memorial service will occur later this year when the family and friends she loved so dearly can all be together to celebrate her life and the memories and gifts she instilled in all of them.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Operation Walk Denver or the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
