In Loving Memory
William “Bill” George Langton, an extraordinary man, passed away on July 21st, 2023 at his home in Denver, Colorado following a brief illness. He was surrounded by family.
Bill was born to Donald W. and Martha (Hennessey) Langton in Spooner, Minnesota on November 12, 1946. His family relocated to Seattle, Washington where Bill graduated from Ballard High School. He enlisted in the Coast Guard from 1965 to 1969, which included a year of service in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Bill later earned a degree from the University of Washington in international business and economics.
Bill enjoyed a unique, and successful career in the International Air Cargo industry starting as an analyst with the legendary Flying Tigers organization and eventually serving as President of Southern Air Transport providing services to support operations for governments, humanitarian efforts, and various industries throughout the world. As a highly regarded leader in his field, Bill leaves a legacy of integrity, innovation, passion, courage, and respect.
He was an amazing husband, a proud father and grandfather, a caring brother and family member, and a loyal friend.
He was the consummate gentleman, with a big smile, a generous heart, and an unrivaled sense of humor. As an engaged listener and accomplished storyteller, Bill brought joy and laughter to family and friends through the stimulating conversations that he so enjoyed.
Bill loved golf, travel, history and reading. He was open-minded and always curious about new ideas and experiences.
Ever the eternal optimist, Bill’s zest for life, strength of character, and his beautiful spirit will be his legacy- his gift that lives on through the many that he has touched. Bill will be profoundly missed, and eternally loved.
Bill is survived by his wife Elaine Hughes of Denver, Colorado; his son Adam (Tiffany) Langton; son Ryan (Joe) Langton-Consolazio; daughter Amy Langton, and three granddaughters, Reagan, Reilly and Ramsey Langton, all from Jacksonville, Florida. He is also survived by his two sisters, Alexandra Ragle and Lil (Denny) Price, in addition to many nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of Bill’s life scheduled at a later date.
