Andrew S. Kim

With deep love and gratitude, the family of Seung Bom “Andrew” Kim announces his passing at the age of 96. Born on Jeju Island, South Korea, Andrew was one of nine siblings and grew up with perseverance and dedication that shaped his remarkable life.

He attended Yong San High School and began his studies at Seoul National University before serving as an interpreter for the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. After the war, he came to the United States on a full scholarship to Aurora College, graduating in 1956, and later earned his MBA from the University of Chicago in 1958—the same year he married his beloved wife, Anna.

Andrew built a distinguished 35-year career with the Federal National Mortgage Association and was an active member of Rotary One, even leading an international tour to South Korea at age 84. He had a deep love for history, enjoyed traveling, telling stories, and making others laugh, and was an avid golfer throughout his life.

A man of strong Christian faith and a devoted member of Dasom Community Church, Andrew lived with kindness, humility, and purpose. His greatest joy was his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Anna, and his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His legacy of faith,

perseverance, and love will continue to live on in all who knew him.

A visitation for Andrew will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, IL 60016, followed by a celebration of life service at 5:00 PM.

A committal service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026 at 10:00 AM at St. Michael Cemetery, 1185 Algonquin Road, Palatine, IL 60067
