Andrija Briskovic

Andrija (Andy) Briskovic, of Park Ridge, and formerly of the Jefferson Park neighborhood of Chicago, passed away on the afternoon of Saturday, July 18, 2026, just two days before his 84th birthday, surrounded by his loving family.

A kind and hardworking man, Andrija, along with his wife, Lena, embodied the spirit of sacrifice, dedication, and love throughout his life. Growing up in Ulcinj, Montenegro (formerly Yugoslavia), he and his wife Lena, together set out to create a better life for themselves and their future children. After being married in 1967, they began their journey to America, with a stop in Italy in between. They arrived in New York City but eventually settled down in the northwest side of Chicago in the Jefferson Park neighborhood. There they raised their family of four daughters and instilled in them the values that brought them to America. They encouraged their daughters to value education, faith and family. Andrija took great pride in his job as a truck driver as it allowed him to interact with many different people and see different parts of the city. When they had time together as a family, Andrija still found a way to be behind the wheel. Family road trips and vacations always were an opportunity for them to spend quality time together and visit new and exciting places. Later in life, he was able to cherish the company of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His presence is one that was felt by so many closest to him, and he will be deeply missed.

Born on July 20, 1942, in the former Yugoslavia, to the late Leke Briskovic and the late Dilja Briskovic (nee Pekic), he was the beloved husband of 59 years of Lena Briskovic. Cherished father of Manda (Anton) Lukic, Anna (Dave) Grabowski, Lena (Jim) Dawson, and Lidia (Tim) Weiss; adored grandfather of Nikola (Michelle) Lukic and Daniel Lukic, Cece and Maddie Grabowski, Jack and Nate Dawson, and Ava and Vinny Weiss; dear great-grandfather of Crew and Axel Lukic; fond brother of Dilja, the late Maria, and the late Mrika; and friend of many.

Visitation Friday, July 24, 2026, from 4pm until 9pm at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St., Des Plaines, IL 60016. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, July 25, 2026, 10am at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, 320 S. Washington Ave., Park Ridge, IL 60068. Interment St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, Niles, IL.
