Barbara (Capozziello) Shummon, 93, a lifelong Chicagoan, devoted wife, great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 30th, 2026. She was born on July 24th, 1933 to the late Irene McKinley and Charles Capozziello.
She will be remembered for her Catholic faith, humor, honesty, loyalty, love for her family, gift for telling a good story, intelligence, and her charity work and donations. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, the late Glenn Shummon, Sr., to whom she was married for 28 years. She is survived by her children, Debra Ann (née Shummon) McCann, Glenn Shummon, Jr., and Calvin Shummon; her nephew, Glenn Rapanos; all of her grandkids and great grandkids; her cousins; and dear friends. May she rest in peace.
Services for Barbara are to be announced at a later date.
