

Betty was born on July 19, 1939, to the late Robert and Mary Bongartz. Loved sister of Marilyn Sheridan and William Bongartz. Cherished Aunt of Rick, Cindy (Mark), Bill, Cristi, Brian, and Eileen (Andy); Great Aunt of Seth (Isa), Amanda, Kendra (Steven), Matt, Dylan, Allison, Jake, Clara and Mary and Great- Great Aunt of Violet and Iden.
After years of dedicated employment at Skil Corporation, Betty changed careers and began working for and eventually owning her own travel agency, Chips Travel. This gave her the opportunity to pursue her passion and travel the world.
Betty was a devoted and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She dedicated her time to volunteering as a confirmation teacher, mission trip chaperone, and bible study leader. As a three-time cancer survivor, Betty was dedicated to helping others become survivors as well.
Betty had a wide array of interests and hobbies throughout her life, most notably as a lifelong Mickey Mouseketeer and a loyal Cubs fan. She also enjoyed cross stitching, stained glass, holiday cookie baking, bowling, ceramics, and playing badminton. She loved parties, always had a story to tell, and brought laughter, smiles, and encouragement to every event. The most important part of Betty’s life was her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. Betty touched the lives of so many with her warm heart and joyful spirit. She will be deeply missed.
Memorial visitation for Betty will take place on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 10am until time of service at 11am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 675 E. Algonquin Rd. Des Plaines, IL.
