Betty S. Koujourian

Devoted mother of Ken, Tom, Carol (Ken) Juranek, and Janet (James) Black, and dear grandmother of Liz, Bob, John (Morgan), Daniel, and Stephanie. She was predeceased by her loving parents Harry and Elizabeth (née Miller) Cunningham and cherished siblings and their spouses Mary (Charles) Dupee, Lorraine (Donald) Bernson, Lois (Jack) Madden, Beatrice (George) Loescher, Marge (Tom) LaCerra, Donna (Lino) Baggio, and James Cunningham. Survived by fond sister-in-law Marilyn Cunningham, many dear nieces and nephews and their extended families, and wonderful neighbors and friends.

Betty graduated from Alvernia High School in Chicago, received nurse’s training at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, and a nursing degree from Loyola University. She worked as a registered nurse in a physician’s office and later at Resurrection Hospital in Chicago; was actively involved in her church throughout her life at Immaculate Conception Church in Chicago and more recently at Mary Mother of Martyrs Catholic Church in Des Plaines; and was a volunteer for many decades at Resurrection Hospital. She enjoyed faith, family and friends, crafting, entertaining, cards and games, reading, and travel.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4 pm to 8 pm at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St., Des Plaines. Prayers will be said Friday at 9:15 am at the funeral home and proceed to St. Mary Catholic Church, 794 Pearson, Des Plaines, for funeral Mass at 10 am. Interment at All Saints Cemetery, 700 N. River Rd., Des Plaines.

The family extends their thanks to the caring staff at Rainbow Hospice including Sharon, Megan, Louise and Diane.
