Except for her brother Paul, Carolyn’s parents and siblings all preceded her in death. Carolyn was also preceded in death by her life-long friend and spiritual mentor, Elsie Bragdon, and is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Carolyn grew up in Indiana and eventually learned to play the trumpet. At Lowell High School, she was very involved in the concert band, marching band, and solo contests. She graduated in 1960.
Carolyn married Wayne Everett Lawrence, and the couple had a son, Brent Harold Lawrence, who married and gave Carolyn three grandsons: Chuck, Alex, and Drake.
Carolyn received Jesus Christ as her Savior and served in many capacities at Northwest Baptist Church, including driving a 56-passenger bus to pick up children attending Awana Bible club.
Carolyn took a job as a night custodian at O’Hare for several years and later worked as a typesetter and graphic designer.
Both Carol and her friend Elsie discovered they loved to go camping. At first, they bought a tent, then a pop-up camper, and eventually, a trailer they parked at the King's Camp. Carolyn maintained the campground's website for many years, shot pictures, and played the trumpet for church services.
Carolyn passed away on March 27, 2022. Memorial visitation will take place on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 9am until time of memorial service 10am at Oehler Funeral Home 2099 Miner St. Des Plaines, IL. 60016.
