Catherine A. Thompson

Catherine A. Thompson (nee Walsh) of Mt. Prospect and Arlington Heights. Loving wife of the late John “Jack” Thompson; beloved mother of Patricia A. Young, John H. (Jackie) Thompson, Michelle M. (Doug) Kelly, and Kathleen M. (Dave) Rotermund; proud grandmother of Julaine (Justin) Stanonik, Jack Thompson, Sean Kelly, Joe (Lauren) Thompson, Danny Rotermund, Billy Rotermund, Cade Kelly, Robby Rotermund, and Connor Kelly; devoted great-grandmother or "GiGi" of Jolie and Mason; dear sister of Dr. Bill (Kate) Walsh, Tom (Lee) Walsh and the late Pat Walsh; fond aunt to many nieces and nephews and she was devoted to her family and friends.

Cathy passed away with her family by her side on March 18, 2023. She was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised on the North side. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes Grade School, Immaculata High School, and Secretary School. She met Jack at a dance and they married on July 14, 1962. They raised their family in Mount Prospect, Illinois. They founded Thompson Elevator Inspection Service in 1974 and it remains a successful family business today. Cathy enjoyed spending time with family and her many friends she made in her life. The family had many memorable vacations over the years, and Cathy and Jack enjoyed cruises and their many trips overseas with friends and family. Cathy's pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Any time spent with her family was her most cherished.

Cathy moved to Luther Village in 2017. She made many wonderful friends and enjoyed her dinners and card games with her "ladies." Cathy, with her cousin and friend, spent the last few January's enjoying Sanibel Island and the warm weather in Florida.

Cathy and Jack enjoyed entertaining, especially at their lake house, on Whitewater Lake, where good times and precious memories will always be remembered.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 26th, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, Illinois. A Prayer Service will be held Monday, March 27th, 2023 at 9:15 a.m. from Chapel to St. Emily Church, 1400 East Central Road, Mt. Prospect, Illinois followed by a mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment at All Saints Cemetery.
