Good afternoon everyone
My name is Wenche, and I’m proud to be Cheryl’s cousin. My grandmother was her aunt, so our families have always shared a close bond.
I’d like to say a few words about Cheryl – about our family, the history we share, and how she has left her mark on my life.

Cheryl came from my father’s side of the family.
Through her, I got to see and learn more about our family history – and that was the start of many wonderful memories and experiences we shared.
Her father, Bjarne, was the brother of my grandmother Nora, who was the mother of Per, Kristmar, and my dad, Arvid.
Bjarne went to the U.S. in 1921, settled down in Chicago, met Stella, and then came Cheryl 😊
The families kept in touch for many years. They came to visit us several times, and we also went over to them.
My grandparents, together with their son Per, traveled there a few times, and once my mom and dad went – together with good friends. They were always very welcome 😊 
I also visited Cheryl and Stella back in 1990 – it was the last stop on my backpacking trip.
They took me around everywhere, looked after me so well – they did everything to make sure I had a good time.

Cheryl used to laugh when she talked about meeting me at Øysand when I was a teenager – she thought I was quite arrogant back then!
I’m so glad she still said yes to having me visit later, even though she had met that “rude kid” once before – her hospitality was incredible!
As time went on, the contact became more sporadic, and the language barrier didn’t make it easier.
My cousin Henning is the reason we reconnected with Cheryl in recent years, since 2020. He found her on Facebook to tell her that aunt Kristmar (the sister of my Dad) had passed away, and that led to us getting back in touch again.
Hennings father, Per, was the same age as Cheryl, and the two of them always played so well together when they visited my grandmother at Øysand – or “aunt Nora,” as Cheryl called her.

Thank you for all the love you shared. I will miss you.

Cheryl and I worked together as Vocational Experts with the Social Security Administration.  She was a joyful and kind person who was highly respected by judges, attorneys, colleagues,   and as a dear friend to many.  I extend my heartfelt condolences to her family.  She was a wonderful lady who continues  to be with us in spirit.

Jeg føler meg beæret som ble kjent med deg. I løpet av de to ukene, du var hos Wenche i sommer, ble vi gode venner, og du inlemmet meg som en del av familien. Vi fikk mange gode samtaler, og du sa, lever jeg til august så flytter jeg til Norge. Slik ble det ikke. Takk for de fine stundene vi hadde sammen❤️ Du glemmes aldri.

I worked with Cheryl for many years at the various Social Security hearing offices and then after that with her on telephonic hearings.  She was always a joy to talk to both in and out of the hearing rooms.
She was a credit to her profession and always behaved with compassion and sympathy around me.
A true loss for all that knew her.
I am so sorry of everyone's loss.

Dearest Cheryl my cousin,

We already miss you a lot, and we are very grateful for the time we have had together with you, both when we were young but specially the last year, when we visited you in Chicago, and you visited us in Norway several times.
We will always love you and think of you. We hope you sleep well now, and that you dont have any pain no more.

Cheryl was a delightful human being with a deep knowledge of her chosen field to share during the difficult disability hearing process.  One could not choose a better co-worker.  She was interested, contributory, on point, concerned and professional in her approach to the job before her.  She had a deep understanding not only of her chosen field of expertise but of the grander happenings of the world encompassing all of us, and she was not hesitant to voice her viewpoint with concern and conviction in between hearings.  On the many days that I labored with her to assure that common folk received the process due them, she started with an engaging smile and proceeded to articulate honestly, clearly and assuredly the critically important learning of her field that she had acquired over her years of education, training and experience.  We most certainly are lesser for her loss.

My deepest condolences to the Hoiseth Family.  Cheryl worked as a Vocational Expert at our office.  She was always smiling, was kind and easy to work with.  Enjoyed speaking with her in the mornings before our days got started.  As we started working from home started not seeing her as much.  So haven't seen or spoken to her in a while, however still had very fond memories of her.  I am wishing you and your family healing and strength during this time.
