Chester lived through World War II, being taken at age 15 as slave labor to Germany. After escaping, he made his way home to Bieniaszowice to his family’s farm. 14 years later, he met his wife, Waleria, in Tarnow, who was a widow with three young daughters: Halina, Christine and Grace. After the birth of their daughter, Anna, he saved up enough money, and in 1959, came to America to provide a better life for his family. He and his wife had a very strong work ethic, which eventually led them to become the owners and operators of The Luna Motel and The New Concord Inn in Wisconsin Dells.
Chester was an avid reader, who enjoyed reading about politics and World War II, while indulging in chocolates and nuts. He also enjoyed taking care of his pristine yard and being outdoors. In addition, Chester was a member of two Polish organizations, Klub Bieniaszowice and Klub Ziemi Tarnowskiej, where Waleria and him made many friends, traveled, and supported many charities and churches back home in Poland.
Chester is preceded in death by his wife, Waleria (Kieronski); his parents, Antoni and Zofia (Ruchwa) Kon; his brothers, Stanley (Eleanor) Kon, Ted (Emily) Kon; his sister, Helena (Stanley) Wytrwal and his infant brother, Boleslaw.
