Editha Chunaco Alfonso, 71, of Des Plaines, IL. Born July 21, 1944 in Quezon City, Philippines, passed away on June 22, 2016 surrounded by her loved ones. Beloved daughter of the late Simeon Alfonso, Sr. and the late Caridad (nee Chunaco) Alfonso. Cherished sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, niece, cousin, godmother, great-godmother and friend to many. Editha is survived by her brother Jun and Isabelita Rosales whom she claims is "the sister she never had.” She was a strong, devout Catholic who was a beacon of light in everyone’s lives. She received her Bachelor’s in Nursing Science from the University of Santo Tomas. Editha had an extraordinary and rewarding career as a registered nurse, working in the NICU at Cook County Hospital for almost 30 years. She was an avid traveler, lover of music and dancing. Always the life of the party.
