Elisa Pérez

Elisa Pérez was born to Andres and María de Jesus Lázaro on March 23, 1931 in Jalisco, MX. From the moment she came into this world, Elisa radiated a love and strength that was contagious to all around her. Elisa had significant challenges and obstacles that she endured as a young child. She overcame these life challenges with grace and dignity and used these life events to help her evolve into a resilient and compassionate Matriarch of her family. She was always willing to help anyone in need and worked tirelessly to help wherever she was able.

Elisa loved gathering with her family, cooking traditional Mexican meals, singing, joyfully dancing and clapping to mariachi music, nature and gardening. She especially had a heart for caring for children and was a mother figure to many, including her siblings, grandchildren, great grandchildren and various children of relatives and friends. To know Elisa was to know genuine love, kindness and loyalty. She hugged with a purpose and healed others' hearts with her light. She poured into her family with all her heart and shared whatever she had. Her unending love for her family, her witty sense of humor, her strength and joyful heart will be greatly missed by her loved ones.

Elisa is survived by her children: María de la Luz (Gonzalo) Dominguez, José Asunción (Maria Guadalupe) Pérez, María Guadalupe Whitmore, Miguel (Luz Evelia) Pérez, María Mercedes Tavares, Susana María (Richard) Hecathorn, Santiago (Sylvia) Pérez, Manuel (Mary) Pérez, Matthew (Martha) Pérez, twenty-six grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and her large extended family.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, daughter Alma Angelina, one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, Elisa's family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Visitation for Elisa will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 9:30am-11:30am at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, IL 60016, followed by a funeral service at 11:30am at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Maryhill Cemetery, 8600 N Milwaukee, Niles, IL 60714.
