Eun Wu Kim

She was born on January 16, 1935, in Wonsan, North Korea. During the hardships of the Korean War, she fled by boat to South Korea in search of safety.

She later attended Ewha Womans University, where she studied Social Work. She was the beloved daughter of Dong Chul Wu and Bong Nyeo Han.

In September 1956, she married her husband, Ho Kim, with whom she shared many years of marriage. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2010.

Together, they raised four children: Jisoon Barton, Jim Kim, Hans Kim, and Jiwon McCartney. She was also a grandmother to five grandchildren and a great-grandmother to two great-grandchildren.

She endured the loss of her second son, Hans (HanSeung), on April 9, 2018.

In 1976, she and her family immigrated to the United States, where they continued their life together.

She will be remembered for her strength and her love for her family.

A visitation for Eun Wu will be held April 15, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Oehler Funeral Home, 2095 Miner Street, Des Plaines, IL, followed by a celebration of life service at 6:00 pm.
