Gerhardt Schmidt

Gerhardt Schmidt, born Jan. 1, 1936 in Burg-Dihm, Germany passed away March 16, 2010 in Melrose Park, IL. Loving father of his only child Kristina B. (Angelo Joseph) Nardi; fond brother of Imgard (the late Rutje) Kruse, Mariechen Futtere, the late Alfred, and Guenther Schmidt, and Gertude Frase; dear son of the late Anne, nee Hauptopff Schmidt; uncle to niece and nephew in Roselle,IL. and Hayward, Wis, and to the late Klaus Kruse; in-laws and family in Minneapolis, MN and Germany; long time friend of Alfred (Renate Schmidt) Richter. Gerhardt was a long time employee of Crouch & Walker as a Stone Mason, active member of the German community, Schlewig-Holsteiner Saengerbund and the St. Baptist hunting club Hubertus, member of Freiwillige Feuerwehr. Gerhardt was an avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. His many great achievements can be seen throughout Chicago and Milwaukee through all of his stone and masonary craftsmanship. He will be well remembered and much missed by all of his family and friends. Visitation Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St. (corner of Northwest Hwy Rt14 and Rand Rd.)funeral will take place Saturday meeting at Maryville Academy, 1150 River Rd., Des Plaines, IL. Where Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 in Marion Chapel. Interment Elmwood Cemetery.
