Don Sherwood, 97, husband of the late Mary Sherwood (nee Tully) for 69 years, loving father of Nancy (Tim) Conlon, Susan (Brian) O’Donnell, Janet (Mark) Smejkal, Julie (Paul) LaFond, Jim (Lisa) Sherwood, and John (Tom Stacha) Sherwood; cherished grandfather of Bridget, Meaghan, Brian, Kelly, Jim, Mike, Anne, Cathleen, Catherine, Kevin, Ellen, Matthew, and Megan; great grandfather of 9; preceded in death by his dear parents Kathryn and Cecil, brothers John, Ted and Joe, and sisters Constance and Dorothy; fond brother-in-law, uncle, and cousin to many. He was a United States World War II Naval Veteran, and a graduate of DePaul University.
Friends and family will gather for a visitation being held for James on Thursday, January 25th, 2024 from 5-8 pm at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, Illinois. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 26th, 2024 at 10 am at St. John Brebeuf Church, 8307 North Harlem Avenue, Niles, Illinois.
