James Leo Stube’s flight originated in Chicago on June 10, 1934. The first leg of his trip included a crew navigated by his parents Leon P. Stube and Helen M. (née Nowicki), along with his fellow travelers, siblings Charlotte, Shirley (George) Donaldson, and Vivian (Dale) Barnett. For the second leg of his trip, he became the pilot, serving 5 years in the United States Marine Corp. During this segment, he recruited his wonderful co-pilot Joan (née Ericson) and welcomed his favorite passengers, children Jane (Chuck) Schulien, Anne (Max) Masini, Carol (Bruce) Hammersley, Patty (Rich) Jett, and Christopher. James enjoyed a 34-year career as a pilot for United Airlines, and in the third leg of his long voyage, eleven grand-passengers boarded: Jennifer Schulien, Kate (Graylin) Johnson, Ericson (Elizabeth) Masini, Tyler Masini, Michael Hammersley, Scott (Hannah) Hammersley, Paige Hammersley, Will Jett, Jimmy Jett, Ryan Stube, and Kyle Stube. His first great grand-passenger Matteo James hopped on in June of this year. Although he lost his beloved co-pilot of 58 years on 12/12/16, Jim has since arrived safely at his gate, completed his final checklist, and shut down his engines on 11/3/23. It was a wonderful flight!
