Jay Winder, beloved husband, father, loyal friend, and cherished presence, was born on March 17, 1971, and passed away on August 29, 2026, at the age of 55. A resident of Illinois, Jay leaves behind a legacy of deep love, quiet strength, and lasting devotion to the people and pets he held dear.
Jay is survived by his wife, Mary Winder, who shared more than three decades of life, friendship, and love with him. From the time they were young, Jay had a way of making Mary feel seen, protected, and free. He encouraged her fiercely independent spirit, never trying to contain it, but instead opening the door and cheering her on as she became fully herself.
He was the proud father of Drew Winder, Tristan Winder and his spouse, Paulina, and Kyra Winder. He marveled at the unique paths each of his children chose and encouraged them in every way he could. Jay loved his family unconditionally and more deeply than words could always capture. His love was expressed in his own quiet and steadfast way: loyal, constant, and unmistakably his.
Those who knew Jay knew he was entirely his own person. He had a distinctive sense of humor, a strong will, and a personality that was unmistakably his. He could be tough on the outside, sometimes awkward in tender moments, and not always quick with the right words. Yet beneath it all was a deeply loyal heart, a steady light, and the making of an amazing man.
