Jin Kyu Lee

April 12, 1932 – June 2, 2026

Jin Kyu Lee, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and honored veteran, went peacefully to be with the Lord on June 2, 2026, at the age of 94.

Early Life and Service

Born in Kyoto, Japan on April 12, 1932, Jin Kyu was the second oldest of nine siblings. He grew up with a deep sense of responsibility, a trait that defined his entire life. As a young man, he bravely answered the call of duty, serving in the army during the Korean War. His dedication to his fellow servicemen remained a lifelong bond, and he was an active, proud member of the Korean War Veterans Association (KWVA).

A Legacy of Devotion

For 64 beautiful years, Jin Kyu was married to his beloved bride, Yeon Sim. Together, they built a life rooted in love, resilience, and mutual devotion. In 1985, driven by a selfless desire to provide greater opportunities and a better future for his family, he immigrated to the United States. His hard work and sacrifices laid the foundation for his family's blessings today.

Faith and Passions

Above all, Jin Kyu was a man of faith. After coming to know the Lord, he became a dedicated member of Hebron Presbyterian Church, where he faithfully attended and worshipped for many years.

He was a man of quiet, thoughtful pastimes. He enjoyed the focus and strategy of playing the game of Go, found peace spending time outdoors gardening, and loved the tranquility of fishing and reading. However, the ultimate joy of his later years was his family. For the last 12 years, nothing brought him more happiness than being present to watch his beloved grandson, Matthew, grow up—a daily blessing that brought immense light to his life.

A visitation for Jin Kyu will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Monday, June 8, 2026 at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, IL; followed by a celebration of life service at 6:00 pm at the same location.,

Surviving Family

Jin Kyu’s legacy lives on through his family who love him dearly. He is survived by:

His beloved wife of 64 years: Yeon Sim Lee

His daughter and son-in-law: Jeong H. Lee and A. Brian Creona

His cherished grandson: Matthew Lee Creona

His sisters: Chong Hee Byun, Chong Chul Kim, Chong Sook Kim and Chong Nam Choe

He is reunited in glory with his parents and his four other siblings who preceded him in death.
