I’m sure no one will see this but i’m writing anyway.  Today i ran across an autographed book from John in my keepsake box and mentioned it to my husband who then googled John. 
This just really breaks my
heart i loved him!  He delivered me 6.5 wks premature 63 years ago at 4 lbs in fact he delivered all 5 of us premi. John delivered both our boys in ‘87 and ‘92.   And when i put in a call for him at 9:00 pm because i thought i was in labor with our 2nd son he said call back when they get closer he was in a card came! lol!  I will miss his sweetness and his cowboy hat.  So sorry he had to leave you and your family but we will all see that great smile again some day.

Only today, did I find out about John when googling him.  I am so very sorry for your loss and although belated, wanted to tell you how much my dad (Jack Davis) and our family adored him!  He was the highlight of childhood parties on Ionia and I remember the day he brought you to our house and he introduced us to you.  He delivered Bryan's and my children and cared for me throughout until he retired.  My dad thought so highly of him and loved sharing an office while they did.  My heart goes out to you and know that all your wonderful memories of this great man stay with you forever.  Pam (Davis) Young

Nancy, I am so very sorry to learn that John passed away.  I goggled his name, thought you both moved to FL.  I remember the day he asked you to marry him, it was July 28, 1970.  I was in delivery and he told me to hurry up because he wanted to meet you to ask you to marry him.  Again my sincerest sympathies to you and your family.

Thank you for being a great doctor to me. I often think of you and smile. My heartfelt condolences to your family.

Dear Nancy,We just looked on the internet tonight and saw Dr. John has passed away almost a year ago. We lived in Park Ridge before we moved to Florida years ago. He delivered both of my children. My first one was in 1961 when he was a young doctor who fought for my life and my babies. Such a wonderful man and remember when you joined Medinah CC about a year after we did. We lost our 16 year old son soon after we moved here from a genetic heart problem no one knew existed but can be treated now. I know what it is like loosing someone you love very much. May God bless you and hope you are keeping busy with children and grandchildren. Everyone loved him for a doctor and so did I.I have often wondered if he stayed in practice for years since my husband still ownes a business here and is in his 70's. He needs to be busy. I would have thought John worked for many years also. So very sorry about him.

Nancy, I just learned of your loss of a truly great man.  I lost my husband 3 years ago, very suddenly and all too soon, he was 67.  I have thought of John so often I can't even count the times.  He saved my life many times , with surgeries as well as advice.   My heart goes out to you, the memories will keep you going, and I have discovered my grandchildren have been a great source of comfort, and as little as they were (7 & 11 at the time), they both spoke at his funeral.  My daughter in law is Heidi Kirschner, John delivered her in 1970, so you see, no one will ever forget him.    Warmest regards, Judy Woods

So sorry to hear that Dr Kostelny passed away. He was such a great doctor and person. Coming to his office and seeing him and Nancy was like seeing family. He will be remembered by many.

I just discovered today that Dr. John has passed away!!  I was checking to see if he was still taking patients.  I went to him for over 46 years!!  He delivered my daughter 43 years ago.  He was a dear Dr....so very kind and caring and gentle.  My deepest sympathy to his dear family.  Barbara Steinseifer.  (12-11-14) today's date.....

Just wanted to send my condolences to the family of Dr. Kostelny. I just heard of his passing and was so saddened to hear it. Dr. Kostelny was the best! He delivered both of my children and made each delivery fun and joyful--even the unexpected C/S for a breech presentation! His skills were unmatched and his personality was awesome. I was new to Lutheran General when I became pregnant and he came so highly recommended, he delivered so many of the nurses babies because we trusted him and admired him. I also referred many patients to him. I will never forget him or his kindness. I am so sorry for your loss but hope that it makes it a little easier to know just how many lives he touched in such a positive way.

Dr. Kostelny delivered all 5 of my children. He was so tender and caring. I am forever grateful for his fantastic care. My sincere condolences to his family. He will be remembered fondly by many.

I WAS A STUDENT NURSE AT RAVENSWOOD AND DR. KOSTELNY WAS ON THE MEDICAL STAFF.   HE WAS SUCH A NICE GUY; EVERYONE LOVED HIM.  LATER HE DELIVERED ALL THREE OF MY CHILDREN-TWO AT RAVENSWOOD AND ONE AT LUTHERAN GENERAL. I SHALL ALWAYS REMEMBER HIM FONDLY.

One of the nicest guys I ever met. Kind compassionate and a real gentleman.  He marched to his own drum. He will be missed immensely.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss.  My mother met him at Ravenswood when he was interning n he became her dr. Delivered me and my daughter.  And my daughter became his patient also. My grandmother who worked  at Ravenswood always knew it was him coming down the hall by his whistle!  He also helped me in nursing school. He was a caring compassionate dr.

Nancy,  I'm the "dancing partner" from the old Christmas parties the docs used to have for us all, and you graciously allowed me to 'borrow' John for a dance or two. Last night, we had a "Nurses'NiteOut"...a bunch who have (mostly) retired who get together once or twice a year. One of the gals told me about John's death. I'm so sorry for your loss.
