He is survived by his wife, Christine Waligorski (née Cwirzen); sister-in-law, Mary King (Vince); brother-in-law, Casey Cwirzen (Barbara); nieces, Michele Peacock (Josh), Carrie Krugman, and Margie Ropeter; great nieces and nephews, Emily, Jaxon, Julia, Jayden, and Jaelynn; and godson, Bobby Webber.
Born in Chicago, Illinois on May 20th, 1947, Jack spent most of his life in the Chicago area and was a graduate of Forest View High School. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1969. Jack married the love of his life, Christine, on June 6th, 1971, and they spent fifty-five beautiful years together. He was a family man in the truest sense, and Christine’s family adored him. If there was something Jack could help with, he’d be there to support, and years of shuttling nieces and nephews to events earned “Uncle Jackie” another fond nickname, “The Taxi Driver.” Jack’s dedicated spirit and hard work applied to his career, too. He began working for United Parcel Service by making deliveries and eventually became a manager. His role as manager didn’t restrict him, though, and he was as involved with helping others at work as he was at home.
Jack loved sports, especially golf and football, and was a huge fan of the Chicago Bears. His playful side could also be seen in hours-long games of Shanghai Rummy, a long-standing family tradition that began with his parents. These games, complete with snacks, dinner, and dessert for everyone involved, were a hotly anticipated event. Jack will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
A visitation will take place from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Wednesday, July 15th, 2026 at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, Illinois, with a funeral service to follow at the same location at 12:00 Noon. Interment will take place at All Saints Catholic Cemetery in Des Plaines, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jack’s name may be made to Vietnam Veterans of America.
