Judy, a lifelong resident of the Chicago suburbs was born in Chicago on April 10, 1957, passed away at home surrounded by family and her Pastor after a long battle of both breast and colon cancer.
She grew up in Des Plaines, moved to Elk Grove, and finally Elgin, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents William and Georgiana Kempke. Judy was the beloved wife for nearly 42 years to Randy Kile; loving mother to Robert and William Kile, dear sister to Robert (Sheri) Kempke, dear sister-in-law to Danny (Mary Lou) Kile and Jerry (the late Nancy) Kile and a dear aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Growing up she went to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Des Plaines, where she also attended grade school. She became a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church when she moved to Elk Grove Village in 1981. Then was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church since moving to Elgin in 1994.
Judy went to Maine West High School and graduated in 1975. She received a BA degree in Business Administration from Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin in 1979. She had worked at Bantam Books in Des Plaines before working at Xerox in Schaumburg, but her real passion was when she became a stay at home Mom… her greatest joy was raising her two sons. From working hard to playing games and pranks she instilled a good work ethic, as well as having fun and laughing, into her kids from early on. She would always say, "get your work done early, so the fun can begin!"
Judy enjoyed her hobbies of sewing, quilting, crafts and especially embroidering. She would make clothes as well as quilts and gifts for family and friends. She made decorations for every holiday throughout the year. Christmas was her favorite and the whole house would be filled with her homemade decorations.
She enjoyed playing games of all kinds but especially cards, from Pinochle to Poker, she was all in! And watch out, a saying she got from her Mother stuck with her “in cards friendship ceases” she was out to win! Other activities she enjoyed were bowling, badminton, and ping pong!
She was a lifelong cat lover dating all the way back to her childhood living at the greenhouse her father owned. Cats were all around outside until she convinced her father to let her keep one inside. She named her Precious and from then on, the cats kept coming. As a High School graduation present she received a cat she named Schultz, named after Sgt. Schultz from Hogan’s Hero’s. Tiffany came after she got married and was super protective. This attack cat thought she was a guard dog. Once she moved to Elgin she got 2 cats and named them Zipper and Buttons. As much as they were for her 2 sons they were her cats… out of nowhere Buttons would appear and sit on her lap, and Zipper would follow her from room to room just to be nearby all the time.
She loved traveling, from her many trips to Disney World with her Family to the European vacation with her parents in 1972. Flying was not her thing so driving road trips were the way to go! She enjoyed planning and going to see different places like Mt. Rushmore, Niagara falls, Hershey Pennsylvania, The Kennedy Space Center, The Smoky Mountains, Kitty Hawk and the Outer Banks of North Carolina, Las Vegas and many many more. She also enjoyed relaxing vacations including Hilton Head Island, Clearwater Beach Florida, or renting a Cabin at Big Cedar Lodge in Branson Missouri. These were all in addition to the many weekend trips up to Wisconsin, including the Wisconsin Dells, Door County, Lake Geneva, and Green Bay.
She also enjoyed cooking and baking, another thing she learned from her mother and grandmother. Whether it was her meatloaf, chili, pizza, spaghetti sauce, or lasagna it all was homemade and delicious. And in her family you couldn’t ever forget about dessert, from pies and cakes to cookies and bars, dessert was a must with every meal.
Judy will be missed dearly, but her memory will live on in the hearts of many!
