I had the pleasure of working with Julie the last few years. She brought vigor to every meeting. While she did take her job seriously, she did not take it OVERLY seriously, and brought her humorous approach to nearly everything.

If I was having a tough day, sometimes something as little as one of her quips was all I needed to smile. I'm thankful for the way she engineered those tiny moments, whether it was intentional or not. They didn't end up feeling so tiny in the long run. 

To her family and friends - I continue to think and feel for you. I miss working with her, but I am glad that I was given the chance to know her.

Shirley and family, my condolences to you all  on the passing of such a beautiful soul as Julie!
I can still remember her coming in with you for bring a child to work days. She was so much  fun to be around and full of get up and go!  Then in a blink of an eye she was all grown up! Off to school and starting her career and before you know it starting her new life as a married couple! I will always remember the days when she would come to work with you as they were special and times I will take with me! Thank you Julie for that and may perpetual light shine on your terrific soul.

My sincere condolences to the many people who love Julie, especially Tom and Shirley. 

It has been very difficult for me to find the words to express my disbelief and grief.  

I worked closely with Julie and Stacie at Allstate for years. There was instantaneous trust and love among us. We worked so fluidly as a team because we knew we could always rely on each other.  Julie was so smart, dedicated and hard working.  I always admired her understated style of leadership.  She was such an inspiration to others because she led with compassion.   

We shared so much together. Even if the three of us weren't actually in a meeting, we would still like to stay in meeting rooms working on separate things just because we liked being around each other. It's hard to find friendships like that in life, let alone at work. But Julie and Stacie are special people. Our friendship extended well beyond the workplace, and transcended career changes and the pandemic. Julie was such a bright light and always made sure we saw each other every few months. She had no idea how much it meant to me to have that human connection.

Julie was one of a kind, in every way. I learned so much from her. From how to use the Snipit tool in Microsoft, to where to take my new puppy for training, to the best places to hike and fish, to how to stay super organized with a paper planner - she had a wealth of knowledge because she had such passion for life.  There will be many things that will always make me think of her - like hedgehogs.   I miss you terribly, Julie. I miss your laugh, warmth, positivity and true friendship. I love you so much. Team SSJ forever.  

Julie was sunshine on a cloudy day. Her smile, her laughter and her light will be missed by all forever. I am so truly sorry for your loss.

I am at a loss for words. My heart hurts and I’m just shocked. You were one of a kind. Thank you for your laughter, energy, light, love, and friendship. You honestly made work so fun. We had so many laughs. You were one of my right hand girls and I could always count on you. I look back at so many good memories with you, and I’m so grateful that I had the privilege of being your friend. I think everyone would agree that your legacy is your positivity and bright shining light. You knew how to have fun and just not take everything too seriously.  I wish I had one more time to give you a hug. I love you Jules. Rest in peace beautiful friend.

Julie was on a ship that was always running parallel to mine. We met working at the park district. She married one of my highschool great friends. She recommended me to her employer and got me my first job out of college. Julie was always there to lend a helping hand and a kind word no matter what was going on. Thank you for all the moments that I’ll never forget.

Julie you will be missed. I remember all the fun times we’ve had. Whether it was dekalb, Arlington heights, your wedding, Ryan’s house, hiking, lollapalooza, you name it. At least your now at peace. So many good memories it’s hard to believe your gone so soon. But your memory will live on through all of us, your friends.

I lived next door to Julie when my husband and I moved to Schaumburg before we had children of our own. Julie had to be in elementary school. After we had our first daughter, Julie and her friend came over to solicit their babysitting services - by this time she was in middle school. They were adorable! And Julie definitely was definitely our sitter of choice for my girls. Soon she  graduated from high school, went to college and blossomed into a gorgeous young woman. And eventually she joined Allstate (where I worked too!!). It was strange to shift from a child/adult relationship to being peers, but kinda cool at the same time!! We would catch up at work, have a quick hug, she would tell me about her job/life/mom, etc. And once we met for coffee before her wedding to Tom (who I was lucky to meet during a random trip to Woodfield)  because Julie wanted tips and recommendations to Aruba (as I just returned from vacationing there and she saw my FB pics). Julie was soooo excited for her wedding to Tom, but what really had her glowing was the thought of just relaxing and starting her life with her new husband. She could not wait! And seeing her recent post of the new home she and Tom purchased, it was like seeing her life come full circle. I literally watched Julie grow up. So, reading Tom’s post about her unexpected passing has me shook. Because all I can see is that young girl approaching my door peddling her babysitting services with all the eagerness, joy and life in her eyes. Because that is what Julie was… full of LIFE. 

Julie had the kindest heart. She had a way of making you feel like lifelong friends after you had just met. Every time we got together, we had the best time and made memories that I will never forget. I loved our trips up to Minocqua. She made a childhood vacation spot feel new and exciting in the best way every time we went up. 

Sending all of my love to her family and loved ones. She will never be forgotten.

You were the first person who welcomed me with open arms into a friend group when I had none. You were the one who took the train to work with me for every day for 2 years. You were the one who made me laugh the hardest when I needed it most. You were the one who held me when I cried and made me feel so loved when I needed a friend. You had the most genuine heart of anyone I’ve known. You lit up every room you walked in to, and I admired you more than you know. You loved your friends so deeply, and it truly showed. It was an absolute honor to be your friend, and I will never forget you. We always said that even if things get heavy, we’ll all float on, but I don’t want to without you. You will always and forever be the most amazing human I’ve had the privilege of knowing and loving. I’ll miss you every day.

I met Julie during my senior year of college at NIU. Little did I know then she would become such an important part of my life. We quickly became close friends and spent several weekends together going to game nights, concerts, camping trips, football games, you name it. Julie was always the life of the party. Her smile, her laugh, and her positive attitude lit up every room she was in. 

After college Julie started working at Conversant and later ended up referring me to work there. I am so glad she did - Not only because she helped kickstart my career in marketing, but because we got to spend more time together in the office. We'd spend our lunches together to forget about work and catch up on life. 

I will forever be grateful for having Julie as a friend and will cherish the time I got to spend with her. 

Julie's bachlorette party a few years back. You are so so missed dear friend. You were such a light in all of our lives and the crew will never ever be the same without you and your contagious laugh! Our friendship meant more to me than you will ever know and I will always cherish every moment I got to spend with you over the last 12 years. 

I was so lucky to have the opportunity to work with Julie often this year. We had one meeting together every week where it was just the two of us and we would start by chit-chatting. We talked about our weekends, upcoming trips, our dogs, our husbands. We would eventually get to business and talk about work but in those few minutes of chit-chat, I got to know the Julie that everyone knows and loves. She was filled with kindness, shared an immense love for her family, husband, Bella and friends; a passion for the outdoors, and of course, her fondness of makeup!  Her laugh was the best--it permeated the room (or Zoom) and her spirit was contagious. On Friday, coworkers met for a walk in the Lake County Forest Preserve. We talked about Julie and shared stories and hugs. I hope Julie's amazing spirit and love helps support her friends, family, Tom and Bella. She will always be remembered and admired.

Sending deepest sympathies to the Lata & Engelhardt families and all who are grieving this tremendous loss. Julie and I worked closely on many projects within the past couple of years, and she was consistently a bright light in my day. She was a rare mix of incredibly intelligent and professional, while also lighthearted, kind and funny-- a combination that made me respect her deeply and also feel comforted by her genuine humanity. I will continue to be inspired by Julie and carry her memory with me. 

My friendship with Julie was short, but it was meaningful to me. Her kindness and patience were clear to me from the first time we talked, and over time I came to realize how genuine these things truly were. She was always ready with a laugh and a smile, and in a moment of sharing I was lucky enough to witness her empathy as well. I fondly remember the brief times I shared with her, and in this time of overwhelming grief, I hope you, Julie's family and closest friends, are able to take some solace in the fact that her kind spirit reached even those who live far away and never had the privilege of sitting down face-to-face with her for a laugh. My deepest sympathy.

My deepest sympathies for Julie’s family. I will always remember Julie’s laugh and her positive spirit. She was my favorite person to work with at Allstate. We would call each other the SSJ friend group between her, myself and Sandy. We were trying to meet each other for lunch every month or so and we had a lunch planned last Friday at one of her favorite places, Maggianos.
