Leona May Hajost nee Brzezinski, 88, of Des Plaines, passed away February 11, 2017. Leona was the beloved wife of the late Edward; loving mother of Marilyn Harrison Sr., Carolyn Hajost, Jim (Cindy) Hajost, Melanie Guidi, Edward E. Hajost, Grace (Rob) Pascolini and Gail (Greg) Chandler; cherished grandmother of Sara (Dennis) Danielsen, Jeffrey Harrison, Matthew (Molly) Hajost, Jenni (Scott) Bartlett, Jessica (Dan) Arteav, Nicole (Kevin) Meyer, Katie Hajost, David (Denise) Guidi, Alicia Guidi, Jonathan Pascolini, Adam Pascolini and Barrett Chandler; dear great grandmother of Aurora, Mina, Arimas, Leia, Duncan, Belle, Guinevere, Hannah, Killian, Eisley, Samantha, Emily, Marilyn Jr., Tyler, Maddy and Vivian; precious great-great grandmother of Izzy and Michael; loving sister of Marcelline. Leona was preceded in death by two sisters, Elaine and Thelma.
Leona grew up at Maryville Academy in Des Plaines. She enjoyed singing, crossword puzzles, reading, baking, sewing, crocheting, crafting, painting ceramics, decorating for each holiday, the opera and socializing. Leona always enjoyed traveling and visited Europe with her husband. From the moment she woke up to the moment she went to bed, Leona stayed busy. Above all, she enjoyed time with her family and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s school and athletic activities.
Visitation Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 4-8 PM at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines. Prayers will be said Thursday, February 16, at 9:15 AM at the funeral home and proceed to St. Emily Church for funeral mass at 10 AM. Interment All Saints Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Rev.
