With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of, Lila A. Dahlke of Rosemont Illinois, who died peacefully on June 12, 2026, at the glorious age of 92. She will be remembered for her strength, laughter and endless love that touched all that were fortunate to know her.
Born from humble beginnings, in 1933, Lila spent most of her childhood in the Bensenville Home, a caring community established for children and the elderly. Lila fondly referred to “The Home” as a place where her and her two brothers developed a deep sense of family and togetherness. It was there that many friendships quickly turned into life-long sisterhood which provided our family with years of happiness and love.
Lila married Donald Dahlke and together they settled in Rosemont, Illinois, where they raised their children, Alan, Donna, and Steven. She embraced a love for nature and exploration with Donald, through many camping adventures and second home in Wisconsin. She never missed the opportunity to bring smiles to a family gathering by cracking a funny joke, serving a delicious meal, or sharing a valuable life lesson through one of her memories.
In her free time, Lila enjoyed painting Christmas ceramics, which have become treasured pieces to her family and friends. Her spirited nature came in handy while playing cards or board games, which she played to win. Sitting across the table from Lila meant you were in for a challenge and a whole lot of fun. Her competitive side carried through to the casino where she spent time with family and friends, laughing and enjoying the slot machines together.
Lila was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend to many. Lila is preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Dahlke, her sister and five brothers. She is survived by her son, Alan Dahlke, her daughter, Donna Dahlke McCarren, and son Steven (Lynn) Dahlke. She was blessed with eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
May everyone take comfort that she is now united with our fun-loving family who went before her. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Lila’s memory by sharing a laugh, playing a game, or dropping a few coins at the casino in her honor.
