Lilia O. Bueza

Lilia Ona Bueza, 86, of Des Plaines was born on February 24, 1937 in Batangas, Philippines to the late Melchor Ona and Martina (nee Villalobos). With time, the Bueza family eventually scattered thousands of miles apart, but she was ultimately surrounded by her loved ones at her peaceful passing at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

For over 55 years, Peter Bueza, Sr. was her beloved spouse. She was known as a feisty mother to Marita, Mary (Jay) Winder, Pete (Jr), and Paul (Abbey), as well as a spunky grandmother of Drew Winder, Tristan Winder, Morgan (Moby) Bueza, Martina (Marti) Bueza, and Kyra Winder. In addition, Lilia was the plucky aunt to Eric Ona (Jr) and Mel (Jennifer) Ona, as well as the beloved sister of the late Anicia (Annie) (late Tedoro) Gachalan, late Loteria (Teri) (late Leonardo (Narding)) Maralit, and Fernando (Totoy) (Cecilia) Ona.

A visitation will be held Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM CT at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, Illinois. On Friday, March 31, 2023, a celebration of life mass will be performed at 10:00 AM CT at St. Zachary's Parish, 567 West Algonquin Road, Des Plaines, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, donations (checks or money orders) payable to the "Barrio Care Foundation" c/o Mary Winder, 381 Munroe Circle, Des Plaines, Illinois, 60016 are greatly appreciated. This non-profit organization was founded by Dr. Fernando V. Ona, who was inspired to give back to the childhood rural village where he and his siblings were raised. The Melchor and Martina Ona Memorial Health Care Center (named after the beloved Ona patriarch and matriarch) was established to serve the health needs of the surrounding community. Since 1997, numerous medical missions resulted in providing access to free health care services and medication for rural farming communities of approximately 50,000 Filipino citizens.
