

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lillian Borrayo, a loving, caring, and kind woman who left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Lillian passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024. Born in Guatemala, Lillian began her life’s journey on December 15th, 1944, born to Juan Francisco Gonzalez and Bertila Flores and moved to Chicago, IL in 1967, embracing a new chapter with courage and hope where she built an amazing life.
A joyful soul and a devoted woman of faith, Lillian dedicated her life to her family and her craft. She loved cosmetology and was a skilled seamstress. Her giving nature and generosity was evident in her love for anyone she encountered. Her love extended to the nativity scenes she carefully adorned each Christmas season, a reflection of her deep faith and love for tradition. Her hardworking spirit, radiant joy, and unwavering faith were a source of inspiration to all who knew her. Lillian's legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will forever treasure her warmth, and the countless memories shared.
Lillian is survived by her loving husband of 60 years Oscar Daniel Borrayo. Her loving daughters, Bianca (Dean) Sandstrom and Ingrid Borrayo, and reunited in heaven with her late daughter, Nancy Medina. Her adored grandchildren Roxane (Eric) Padilla, Tiana (Bill) Hernandez, Daniel (Megan) Ortiz, Yvette (Tregg) Boone, Christopher Sandstrom, and Marco Ortiz. Lillian also is survived by her eleven great-grandchildren who will continue to honor her life and values.
A celebration of Lillian’s life will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 4:00 PM
to 8:00 PM at Oehler Funeral Home (2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, 60016).
A funeral service will take place the following morning at 10:00 AM at the
funeral home, followed by a committal service at Maryhill Cemetery (8600 N
Milwaukee Ave, Niles 60714).
Lillian Borrayo will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love and gratitude.
