Margarete Pressling

Affectionally known as “Oma” Margarete is survived by the love of her life, Stefan Pressling, her sister Anna Kolleng, her son Dr. Stefan Pressling as well as grandchildren Nicole Simon (Christopher Murphy), Adam Simon (Vy Nguyen), Kimberly Pressling (Joseph Curtis), Victoria Caulfield (Shaun) and Gregory Pressling. Also, great grandchildren Ava Dagmar, Eden, Hannah and Bennett.

She was predeceased by her parents Margaretha and Ludwig Massong, her brother Ludwig Massong and her daughter Dagmar Anna Simon.

Margarete and Stefan met in Vienna, Austria and immigrated to the United States in 1951. Their great love for each other inspired family, friends, and all who crossed their path.

As a devout Catholic, Margarete’s philanthropic pursuits were centered on the importance of Catholic education. Margarete and Stefan proudly supported St. Monica Parish in Chicago and were members of the Donauschwaben Society of Chicago.

Margarete was an exceptional baker with an affinity for mathematics. She was especially proud of her chocolate chip cookies, poppyseed and German chocolate cakes and her impressive stock portfolio. She will be greatly missed by all who know and love her.

Visitation will be held at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, IL 60016 on Sunday, March 6, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Monica’s Catholic Church, 5136 North Nottingham Avenue, Chicago, IL 60656 on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. with Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery, 700 North River Road, Des Plaines, IL 60016.
