Mary C. Grossi was born Maria Carmela Minniti in Villa Park, Illinois on April 17, 1924. Her parents were Italian immigrants and she was 2nd born of eight. Marguerita, Antonina, Johanna, Florence, Angela, Antonio and Giovanni.

She met our dad through a mutual friend & cousin Donna Tirtilli and were married on February 27, 1960. Survived by her son Sam (Patti), Francine and Janine (Arnie). Our mom was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Grossi and their daughter Theresa (Terri) Mueller (Bill). She was also blessed to have 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

She loved cooking, gardening, music, bowling and taking care of her family. She always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family. Her character and temperament can best be shown by the beauty and strength of her four children. She always had a smile on her face even when times were tough. After our dad passed away in 2002, she took up bowling (at 78) once again and enjoyed that tremendously. She loved to meet new people, was a social butterfly and loved to chat.

As the aging process took flight she knew she could not take care of herself without assistance and we moved her into an AL facility in Des Plaines. She eventually moved into The Abington of Glenview after a fall from a broken hip, with surgery and PT as the main goal. For the past three years it became her primary home where she was truly loved by the staff and was known by many of the residents who would blow her kisses and make her laugh. She had a chuckle that would light up the room. She passed away peacefully at The Abington on October 5, 2021.

Mary was my first mother-in-law, and I am so amazed at how long she lived! What a blessing from the Lord! She led a full life, surrounded by lots of wonderful Italian family members! I'll miss her smile, cute laugh and Italian cookies! We had a few nice phone conversations over the latter years and shared an April birthday! I will genuinely miss her and I extend my love and prayers to the entire Grossi family during this difficult time!

Sending my sincerest condolences to Mary’s family.
We were neighbors for many years and would also see her in church. I always enjoyed visiting with her.
She was a very sweet person.
You and you family are in my thoughts and prayers. 🌹🙏🏻
