Mary Joan Murphy of Des Plaines Mary Joan Murphy (nee Herrlich), born May 24, 1928, passed away July 21, 2011. She was the beloved wife of the late John W. Hellmer, the late William H. Lucas and the late Joseph J. Murphy. She is survived by her children, Margaret (Scott) Travis, Roy (Sherry), Kurt (Sandy) and Paul (Carol) Hellmer; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She will also be mourned by the extended families of William H. Lucas and Joseph J. Murphy. A memorial Mass to celebrate her life will be held at St. Mary Church, Pearson at Prairie, Des Plaines, Aug. 3, at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rainbow Hospice.
