

Mercedes Tanjuaquio Cordero, 87, of Park Ridge, passed away peacefully surrounded by family members the afternoon of Thursday, April 17, 2025. Born November 8, 1937, in Lubao, Pampanga, Philippines to the late Vicente and the late Teofista Tanjuaquio, she was the beloved wife of 53 years to Remigio Cordero. Cherished mother of Ritchie Cordero (Margaret Santiago-Cordero, DDS) and Rosette Cordero; adored grandmother of Calvin and Camden Cordero; cherished sister of the late Anastacio, the late Feliza, the late Cesar, the late Homer, Aurora, the late Lourdes, Helen, Paz, Estela, and Lily; dear aunt of many nieces and nephews; and friend to many. Mercedes lived her simple life avoiding the spotlight, but what always shone through was her love for family and friends. She shared her light in Circulo Capampangan, the Chicago Dance Club with her husband, and throughout her career at the United States Postal Service. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew her across the United States and the Philippines.
