Michael S. Morrison

Michael Scott Morrison was born Nov. 3, 1953 in Chicago, IL. He passed away suddenly, but peacefully in his home in Wheaton on Sept. 13, 2026. He grew up in Des Plaines, then went on to earn three degrees, attending University of Illinois at Chicago, BA; Loyola University Chicago, MBA, and John Marshall Law School, JD.

Mike started practicing law at a large suburban firm. He then ventured out on his own, specializing in taxation, probate, trusts, wills and estate planning. He was a member of the American Bar Assn., Illinois State Bar Assn., and was a member of the Trust Committee for DuPage and Cook County Bar Assn. He was also a member of the Illinois CPA Society.

Mike was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, which he obtained by being a very active member of Lions Club International, serving many years as their treasurer.

Mike led a full yet private life. In his earlier years, he made several trips to scuba dive in the Caribbean—in which he subjected his family to hours-long slide shows. He also loved skiing in Vail, musky fishing in Canada and travelling the Midwest to fish. Mike enjoyed early morning walks with his brother’s dogs at their house on Castle Rock Lake. An avid fisherman, he spent many hours in his boat celebrating every catch with family and friends.

He cherished going to art shows and exhibits and seeing live music. He appreciated the monthly poker games in which he benefitted more from the social experience than any monetary gains. He looked forward to the planning, organizing and adventure of taking annual trips to see Big 10 football games with his brothers, cousins and friends.

Mike was an enthusiastic fan of the Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, and White Sox. He held season tickets to the Blackhawks and DePaul basketball games as well as more recently Northwestern football season tickets.

Dependable, kind and very loyal, lending a hand whenever needed. Although shy by nature, if you were looking to strike up a conversation with Mike—talking fishing, sports or taxes was the easiest way in. Although doing so could pull you into rather long and/or deep conversation.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents John ‘Jack’ and Lillian (nee Bajerski). He was number four of nine children. Mike is survived by his eight siblings. Chris (Buz Didier), Denise, Debbie (Bob) Waldon, Pat (Mike Ross), John (Caron), Dan (Denise), Jim (Dawn), Bob (Megan) and numerous nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews.

A casual memorial service is planned for Nov. 1, 2026, 3:30-7:30pm at Friendship Park Conservatory 395 w. Algonquin Road, Des Plaines, IL. In lieu of flowers, please plant a memorial tree or send donations to Lion’s Club International or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
