Born in Manchuria, China, to Korean parents, she and her family moved first to North Korea and then to Pusan, South Korea during the Korean War. She graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine in 1957, one of only five women in her medical school class. She began her medical career with a rotating internship and a surgical residency at Presbyterian Medical Center in Chunju, South Korea. There, she found that a surgical career would be difficult as a woman, and she pivoted to a pediatric residency at Hanil Hospital in Seoul, South Korea. She became a full-time attending physician at the National Medical Center, also in Seoul, where she became the Assistant Chief of the Department of Pediatrics.
In 1961, Minza married Eungbo Koh, who was a seminary student at the time. A devout Christian, she dedicated her life to being a helpmate to her husband, supporting his calling as a Presbyterian pastor while working as a pediatrician. In the late 1960s, the United States was seeking doctors and opened up immigration to physicians. Minza and Eungbo were determined to prevent their daughter, Grace, and son, David, from experiencing war as they had, and they took this opportunity to immigrate to Oak Park, Illinois, with their young family.
Although she was a board-certified pediatrician in South Korea, Minza retrained in the U.S., completing her internship at West Suburban Hospital and her residency at Loyola University Medical Center. She maintained her privileges at Loyola University Hospital while working for many years at the Martin Luther King Health Center in Chicago, where she cared for children of indigent families. In 1977, she joined Illinois Masonic Medical Center as a part-time associate attending in the pediatric department and then went into private practice until her retirement in September 1996.
Minza was the beloved mother to Grace (Peter) Angelos and David (Julie) Koh; loving grandmother to Meghan Angelos (Zach) Duey, Christian Angelos, Audrey Angelos, Benjamin Koh, and Claire Koh (James) McGavin; and adoring great-grandmother to Elliot Duey and Milo Duey.
