A lifelong Des Plaines resident and avid fisherwoman, Nancy lived a life of laughter, dedication, hard work, and generosity - values that were instilled in her early in life and would later become influential in how she carried herself as an adult. Family vacations to Wisconsin Dells and trips to various parts of Michigan (such as Mackinaw Island, Traverse City, and the Sleeping Bear Dunes), were an opportunity for quality time with family and friends and was where she truly loved life most. Nancy always reveled in her ability to be influential and social with everyone she encountered and knew how to make them feel special; this was especially evident in her renowned ability of gift giving. Her artistic side shone through daily, whether it was listening and singing along to her favorite classic rock music or drawing, she was always being creative. Her true calling was being a mom as her relationship with her son, Willie, was the most treasured part of her life. Being present and supportive every day, she loved being with him during his time at summer camp. Nancy’s presence and influential spirit will be felt for years to come by all who knew her.
Born June 19, 1951, to the late James A. Eck and the late Bonnie Lou Eck (nee Moore), she was the beloved mom of Walter “Willie” Rodie. Dear sister of the late Lon Eck, Margery Eck (Michael Burton), and Charlie (Laura) Eck; loving aunt of Amy (Adam) Pascolini and Allison Eck; and adored granddaughter of the late George Eck, the late Lauretta Eck, and the late Florence Purvis.
