Nick is preceded in death by his beloved wife Marie, his parents Nick and Lucia, and his grandson John M. Barca. He is survived by his children Nick Chiusolo (Laurie Montalto), Joseph Chiusolo, and LuAnn (John) Barca; his three grandchildren, Eva Chiusolo, Jessica Chiusolo, Joseph Barca, former daughter in-law Kathy Chiusolo, his sister Dominique Abatangelo, and dear friend Christine Hotchkiss.
Nick married Marie Capone in 1958, and they were married for 46 years until she passed away in 2004. They lived in Chicago, had 3 children and several dogs. In 1983, they moved to Park Ridge. Nick enjoyed boating, fishing, and tubing, even though he could not swim! They had a camper and boat up at the Chain O Lakes for many years, and he continued going to his son Nick’s home on the lake every summer weekend till his passing.
Nick was a pipefitter by trade and a great handyman who tackled numerous projects over the years. Anything he built was hurricane and earthquake proof! He also invested in real estate and became a real estate broker. After retirement, Nick volunteered at Lutheran General Hospital for several years where he made many lasting friendships. He also enjoyed traveling, and with his good friend Christine, they cruised, traveled to places such as Italy, Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Florida. Nick spent many Sundays having dinner at his daughter’s and playing/arguing trivia with his son-in-law John! For the past several years, his son Joe lived with him in his Park Ridge home.
