Nixon Matthew Skenderi was born on November 1, 2013 and passed away on June 19, 2018. He was the loving son of Ozzie and Kristin Skenderi, Grandson of Matthew and JoAnn Spatzek and Jon and Linda Skenderi, Nephew of Matt Skenderi, Godson to Dianna (Kevin) Sandeen, Best Friend to his dog Lucy,
Great Nephew and cousin to many.
Nixon was a force to be reckoned with. Born with Gaucher’s Disease, he started fighting from the day that he got his diagnosis. He gave everyone hope that this horrible disease could maybe one day be conquered. He rose to the challenge and fought bravely. He was a very special boy who endured so much in his four and a half years of life. He showed everyone that relentless love and unimaginable resiliency are the pathway to stay on course. He shared his story with the world. And there were so many people whose lives he touched that he never even had the pleasure of meeting. His strength and courage changed the way people started viewing life. His stay was short, but he managed to bring so many people together. He made people stronger and better human beings. He had such a positive impact on so many people's lives. He was a hero. He left a mark on this world that no other child could and it is now more extraordinary. The world is a better place because of him.
