Norma Naval Mutia
July 7, 1938 – February 8, 2019
Norma Naval Mutia, 80, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on February 8, 2019.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her seven siblings. She is survived by her beloved daughter Bernadette (and the late Leonardo Jr) Rivera, her grandchildren Kadence, Claudine and Alaina as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was a world traveler, a devout Catholic who often prayed the rosary; she loved to work and only just retired from her position in medical records at the age of 76. She was fiercely proud of her grandchildren. She collected lucky elephants and destination spoons. She was known for the “Norma Kebab” at St. Lambert’s Church in Skokie. She was first generation from the Philippines, and supported her family as they joined her in the United States.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 11, 2019 from 3-8pm at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, IL 60016. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 10:30am at St. Mary Catholic Church, Des Plaines. Interment to follow at Maryhill Cemetery, Niles.
