Pericles (Perry) Kostopoulos, 91, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2023 lovingly surrounded by his family. Born on January 14, 1932, in Isari, Greece, to George and Georgia Kostopoulos, Perry was one of ten children and the last of his family to part from this life. Perry emigrated from Greece in 1959, setting sail to Canada in hopes of a better life for his future family. Shortly after, he moved to Chicago, where he met the love of his life, Georgia Charuhas.
Head waiter at Roditys Restaurant in Greek Town for 40 years, Perry went beyond simply serving food and beverages, forming genuine relationships. Always dressed in a suit and tie, he was an extraordinary individual who touched the lives of everyone he met. Perry’s love, generosity, compassion, lighthearted spirit, contagious smile, and warm personality brought joy to those around him. He had a unique ability to connect with others deeply, making them feel welcome and at home. From day one, Perry was committed to consistently showing up for others, endlessly supporting and encouraging all to be happy no matter the circumstances. He truly brightened any and every room he entered.
Above all, Perry's greatest source of happiness was his family. He was a devoted and loving husband to Georgia for 61 years and a cherished father to Kanella (Chris) Nicolopoulos and Georgia (Anastasios) Mermigis. Adored Pappou to George (Courtney) Nicolopoulos, Perry John Nicolopoulos, Katerina (Nick) Adamopoulos, Stefanos Nicolopoulos, George, Perry, Angelo, Marina Mermigis, and many nieces and nephews. Perry’s unconditional love for them created a lasting legacy exemplifying the importance of family and strong relationships with loved ones. His presence brought a unique light into the lives of those around him, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts and souls. The memories of Perry as an entertainer, storyteller, and purveyor of laughter and love will be greatly missed.
As the last surviving member of his family, Perry's passing marks the end of an era and the loss of a generation. It is undoubtedly a time of reflection and remembrance as we honor his memory and the legacy he leaves behind. May his family and friends find solace in the cherished moments they shared with Perry and the love he bestowed upon them throughout his life.
