Peter Myungchul Kang

Peter Myungchul Kang (Pete), age 34, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, October 2, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois. He was born on April 17, 1991, to Sarah and Yoo Yul Kang.

He is survived by his partner, Becca Kopper; his parents, Sarah and Yoo Yul Kang; his siblings, Paul Kang and Heidi (Mike) Loula; his beloved extended family; and many treasured friends.

Peter attended Loyola University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and English. After completing his undergraduate studies, he went onto Loyola Law School, where he earned his Juris Doctor. He was an accomplished attorney for eight years.

Pete loved attending Cubs games, enjoying concerts, and having competitive board game nights with Becca. He was an avid Pokémon card collector, an enthusiastic Swiftie, and had a passion for travel and new experiences. He adored his dog, Charli, and doted on her every chance he could. Peter was a fierce protector of those he cherished and the values he held dear.

Peter was a man filled with passion for life. He was humble and selfless, always putting others first. He lived with honor, integrity, and determination. He will be remembered for his kindness, quick wit, and authenticity. Peter always had big dreams and lived his life to the fullest.

A funeral service for Peter will be held Sunday, October 12, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, IL.
