Ramon J. Elizalde of Elk Grove Village died peacefully on May 17, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Ramon was born in Gomez Palacio, Durango on September 23, 1934 to Juan Ramon Elizalde Flores and Berta Gonzalez. He was the beloved husband of Rosemarie (Pedregal) whom he shared 61 years of marriage with. He was the devoted father of Elaine (Craig) Swinson and Sandy (Rick) Sobon. Ramon was the proud Papa of 3 grandchildren: Alexis, Kyle, and Alivia as well as one granddog: Bentley. He was a cherished brother of Javier Elizalde, Hector Elizalde, Carmen Elizalde, and the late Isabel Elizalde. He was a dear first cousin to the late Jose Hugo Elizalde who he loved as a brother. Ramon was a loved uncle to many nieces and nephews, a fond godfather, a cherished cousin, as well as a friend to many.
Ramon left Mexico at the young age of 25 to seek a better life filled with many opportunities in the United States. Upon coming to America he worked hard in various jobs until he found his dream job at DuPage Die Casting where he was employed for over 55 years. He was a hard working man with an unparalleled work ethic who truly loved his job. Ramon always believed and said, “If you love what you do, you won’t have to work a day in your life!” Coming from a modest beginning, he certainly accomplished much and was able to provide well for his family.
Most of his time was spent enjoying the simple daily pleasures of life with family and friends. He enjoyed roller skating, ice skating, skiing, riding his electric scooter, dancing to Latin music, and riding his bicycle throughout the neighborhood. Ramon enjoyed entertaining friends and family with his comedic personality and witty sense of humor. Everyone remembers him as the life of the party. Ramon’s aim was to please others and spread joy and laughter.
The legacy of his lighthearted and giving nature will live on through his family, and the love he gave will never be forgotten.
May his memory be eternal.
