Raymond H. Steil

Raymond H. Steil of Niles, 97, was the loving husband of the late Loretta Steil (nee Grewe); devoted father of Robert J. (Jane) Steil; caring grandfather of Rebecca (Mike) Basore, Eric Steil and Elizabeth Steil; and dear great-grandfather of Bryan and Aiden Basore. Ray's family emigrated to the United Sates in 1860 from Germany, where they then settled on land that stayed in the Steil family still to this day. Ray was born in the home he lived in his entire life which was part of a 60-acre family farm. Visitation will be on Friday, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St. (Northwest Highway/Route 14 at Rand Road), Des Plaines. The funeral will be on Saturday, he will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of the service 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9081 N. Maryland, Niles, Ill.
