

Richard Ryza, 84, of Des Plaines, IL, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family on August 18, 2022. Richard is predeceased by his daughter Deborah, parents Marie and Paul, and Brother Paul Ryza. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth, of 60 years, children David and Greg, daughter-in-law Kim, 3 grandchildren Rachel, Kylie, and Zach, Sister Venessa Riley, brother-in-law James Riley, and half-brother Paul Richardson.
Richard attended Proviso East High School, then went on to join the U.S. Air Force, where he was an airplane mechanic. He later went on to work for 37 years as a heating and air-conditioning installer, retiring from Ibbotson Heating Co. Rich, also, was a Weblos and Boy Scout Leader with Pack and Troop 25, Des Plaines, IL. He volunteered at the Des Plaines Self Help Food Pantry and was captain of the Forest Ave Neighborhood Watch for many years.
Rich’s family was always the most important thing to him. He loved his home and enjoyed working on it. He also enjoyed model railroading, woodworking, dancing, camping, golf, and would always be willing to go out of his way to lend a helping hand.
Visitation will be held at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St, Des Plaines, IL, on Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm. A funeral mass will be held Friday, August 26 at 11:00am at St. Mary & St. Stephen Protomartyr Catholic Church, 1280 Prospect Ave, Des Plaines, IL.
Memorial donations in Richard’s name may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association at www.lbda.org, or the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
