Rosa M. Vargas

Rosa was born on January 19,1967 in Tepatitlan, Jalisco, Mexico to Juan and Esperanza Gonzalez. She grew up in Des Plaines as the oldest of six children in a loving family. Rosa dedicated many years of hard work to her family’s restaurant, Mexico Uno in Palatine. She raised two beautiful children who were the light of her life.

Rosa led a strong, purposeful life. Always passionate about love and beauty, she grew bright flowers in her garden, spent Sunday mornings in church and, above all else, cherished every possible moment with her family. She was known for her kind and compassionate spirit and will be remembered for always putting others before herself.

She is survived by her parents, Juan and Esperanza Gonzalez; her husband, Enrique Vargas; her children, Mary Ann and Alex Rodriguez; her siblings, Elly (Sergio) Gonzalez, Jamie (Marta) Gonzalez, Ofelia Gonzalez, Irene (Joaquin) Gonzalez and Celia (Timothy) Kallenborn and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 30 from 3-9pm at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St. in Des Plaines. Funeral mass will be held Monday, October 1 at 10am at St. Mary’s Church, 794 Pearson in Des Plaines.

In lieu of flowers, Rosa’s family suggests donations to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
