

Rosemary Mulligan, a longtime Illinois Republican from Des Plaines, died on December 30, 2014, at the age of 73, after a months-long decline in health. Rosemary represented Des Plaines, Park Ridge and surrounding communities in the Illinois House from 1993 to 2013, while also serving stints as Maine Township Committeewoman and on the Des Plaines Library Board. Known as fiscally conservative, socially moderate, with an expertise in the state’s human services budget, Rosemary was a fierce advocate of woman’s rights and a strong voice for LGBT people, children and the less fortunate. She sponsored countless legislation for the protection of women’s reproductive rights, and as an advocate of LGBT rights, helped make it possible for other legislators across the state to vote for non-discrimination legislation and marriage equality. Family and friends will remember Rosemary for her sense of humor, feisty demeanor and ability to always speak her mind. Mother of Matthew (Christena) Bonaguidi and Daniel Bonaguidi.
