Ruby Zepeda

Ruby was born on December 28, 1931, in Trujillo, Honduras, to Luther Holness and Gozel Ezekiel. She was one of five siblings and is preceded in death by Martin Holness and Iris Gross. She is survived by her beloved siblings George Holness and Mavis Moore.

Ruby was widowed by her devoted husband, Jose Trinidad Zepeda, with whom she shared a life filled with love and family. Together, they raised six children. She was preceded in death by Miriam Zepeda, George Zepeda, and Carlos Zepeda. She is survived by her loving children: Iris (Jesus) Ibarra, Maria (Pedro) Colón, and Jose (Mirna) Zepeda Jr.

Ruby’s legacy lives on through her grandchildren:

Mary (Elmer) Diaz, Roger (Kathryn) Garay, Samuel Garay, Alejandro Garay, Rene Garay, Miguel (Ashley) Garay, Linda (Cisco) Soto, Racheal Zepeda, Salvador Zepeda, Oscar (Angela) Gomez, Pete (Amy) Colón, and Rebecca Zepeda.

She was also blessed with 25 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and one more expected in May.

Beyond being a devoted mother and grandmother, Ruby had a passion for baking, sewing, and selflessly serving her family. Her unwavering faith in God was the cornerstone of her life, and she shared this faith with all who surrounded her.

Her kindness, wisdom, and enduring love will be deeply missed but forever treasured in the hearts of those she touched.

A visitation for Ruby will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Oehler Funeral Home (2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines 60016). A funeral service will take place at the funeral home the following morning at 10:00am, followed by a graveside service at All Saints Catholic Cemetery (700 N. River Road, Des Plaines).
