Ruth Florence Reed of Des Plaines since 1946 The funeral service for Ruth Florence Reed (nee Grewe), 93, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21, at Christ Church, 1492 Henry Ave., Des Plaines, where she will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The Rev. Virginia Ericson will officiate. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Oehler Funeral Home, Des Plaines Chapel, 2099 Miner St. (Northwest Highway/Route 14 at Rand Road), Des Plaines. Born May 23, 1917, in Wheeling, she passed away Friday, April 15, 2011, in Des Plaines. Ruth was a homemaker. She was also known as the "Cookie Lady" in Des Plaines. She was the wife of the late Russell W. Reed; mother of Jim (Sue) Reed and Barbara (Steve) Bay; grandmother of seven, Alissa (Bill) Burtelson, Jim (Ryann) Reed, Phillip (Karen Vanco) Reed, Kim Reed, Brian (Abby) Bay, Sean Bay and Stephanie Bay; great-grandmother of three, Olivia, Henry and Victoria; and sister of the late Marion (Howard) Bitterman.
