Sally Melmer (nee Hendrickson) of Des Plaines; beloved wife of the late James; dear sister-in-law of Jane (Art) Slater; cherished friend of Larry Olson and Diane Schramm. Born in Detroit MI, she moved with her parents to Alaska and they lived the pioneer life in a cabin, in her words, “past where the road ended”. There she met and married her beloved James. They moved to Des Plaines in 1979. She was a real estate agent and a secretary during her working career. Sally passed away in Elk Grove Village on September 17, 2015. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2015 at the Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St. (Northwest Hwy. /Rt. 14 at Rand Rd.) Des Plaines, 7:00 pm, participants will gather after 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
